Scope note: Enzima que cataliza la ruptura independiente de ATP de una de las dos hebras de ADN, el paso de la otra hebra intacta a través de la ruptura y la unión de nuevo de la hebra rota. Las ADN topoisomerasas de tipo I reducen la tensión topológica en la estructura del ADN relajando las vueltas de superhélice y desenredando la hélice de ADN.
